I Spent the Last Year Learning to Love Green is a love letter to both a partner and a practice, a meditation on photography, and a reflection on relationships. The challenge the book seeks to match is to bring the intangibles of bliss and joy and fear into the physical world, while recognizing that photography as a medium — itself an intangible vessel — is insufficient.
This is the second edition of the publication, originally self-published in 2022.
James Talbot is an artist and photographer working out of Utah. Usually searching for innocuous and discreet subject matter, his work seeks to mythologize places of personal significance. Through small visual details of colors, shadows, and other motifs, he hopes to capture a numinous spirit that contributes to a collective memory of those places.
